"Care Home Open Day is an excellent initiative to try and encourage links between care home residents and local communities. It is important that care home residents feel like valued members of their local communities. It is equally important that local people understand what care homes are really like, especially since most of us will either enter a care home in the future, or will have relatives or friends in care homes. Care Home Open Day is an excellent way to bring lots of people together whilst at the same time highlighting the hard work of people working in Care Homes."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Marlborough Court Care Home on Care Home Open Day this year, and I think the benefits of fostering relationships across generations are invaluable. Elderly people often have very interesting stories, and this initiative not only makes them feel loved and important, but also enables younger people to see how care homes really operate on a daily basis, and shows them that old age is not something to be feared."
